Poverty is one of the social issues. Until now, the government has not been able to reduce the poverty rates in Indonesia. Some factors that contribute to poverty are the low quality of human resources, limited job opportunities, and various risks associated with working, which result in socioeconomic threats. One solution to address poverty caused by work-related risks and threats is through the Employment Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan). BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is a social security institution that provides insurance programs to workers against all the risks and threats they face in their jobs. This insurance program provides financial security, healthcare access, and social welfare to workers. This article aims to determine the effectiveness of employment social security in reducing poverty caused by work-related risks and threats. The researcher utilizes the theory of program effectiveness by Budiani (2007:53), which includes four variables: program targeting accuracy, program socialization, program objectives, and program monitoring. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques include observation, documentation, and interviews. The results obtained from the research indicate that the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan program is effective in preventing poverty among workers. However, in its implementation, the program is not widely known by the public, resulting in suboptimal implementation and the benefits are not well-known or felt by the society.
