This study aimed to assess the status of land carrying capacity in Manokwari District as a crucial factor in sustaining agricultural ecosystem services. In 2022, the land cover data acquisition method was derived from the Landsat 8 TM imagery interpretation. Using thematic topography and climate data, land capability classes were determined. Using spatial ecoregions, an ecoregional valuation of ecosystem services is performed. In South Manokwari District, the results indicated that there were sixteen land covers. Swamp scrub land cover, primary dryland forest, secondary dryland forest, primary mangrove forest, secondary mangrove forest, harbour, settlement, plantation, dryland agriculture, mixed dryland agriculture, savanna (grassland), paddy fields, shrubs, and open land are the sixteen land covers in South Manokwari Regency. The land cover with the most significant area was primary forest, with 105,845.50 ha (45.18%), followed by swamp vegetation with 190.22 ha (0.08%). Tahota District, with a total area of 33548.29 hectares (53.29%), contains the most extensive primary dryland forest. The land capability class with the largest area in South Manokwari Regency is class VIII, with an area of 50975.67 ha (21.76%). While the lowest land capability is the lowest ability class, 3638.20 (1.55%), it is the lowest ability class. In South Manokwari Regency, food ecosystem services are most appropriate in Ransiki (0.97 %), Momiwaren (0.65 %), and Oransbari (0.02 %).
